About this event

We are delighted to welcome Stephen Harris here at Hatchards this evening to celebrate both the 25th anniversary of The Sportsman and his delicious new book:

The Sportsman at Home: Flavoursome Recipes for Nostalgic Eating

The Sportsman is nothing short of an institution. Twenty-five years ago, Stephen Harris took over a rundown pub on the Kent coast in 1999 and turned something ordinary into something extraordinary with his pared-back style of cooking, earning (and retaining) a Michelin star, as well as being named the UK's best restaurant multiple times.

As we will discover this evening, Stephen’s inspiration is drawn from the Kent countryside, local seasonal produce and familiar, simple flavoursome food such as Welsh rarebit, cream of tomato soup, pork chop with charred leeks and tart tatin with vanilla ice cream.

To dscuss this and much more. Stephen will be in conversation with Dan Keeling, of Noble Rot fame, whose most recent book “Who’s Afraid of Romanée-Conti?” is a no-holds-barred voyage into the world of wine.

It’s going to be a fantastic evening – do join us if you can!
