Richard Scothorne, Managing Director of Rocket Science – a respected consultant whose work focuses on employability and skills, economic and business development, organisational development and review. He will speak about current trends and practical actions which can be taken by businesses.

Amy Browne, Relationship and Events Manager at Fazenda Rodizio Bar & Grill – a HIT Futures scholar will talk about her experience as a young person working in the industry. Amy will also share thoughts on the expectations of the younger generation in relations to work-life balance, career development and how today’s leaders can engage with and nurture future talent.

Looking After Our People - Mairead Rowan, Workplace Officer at See Me Scotland

Almost 60% of workers in the Scottish hospitality industry have experienced mental health problems at work according to a recent survey by ScotHot. The workplace is one of the key areas where people face stigma and discrimination; delegates will learn more about how to change our workplace culture around mental health so people feel confident enough to speak about how they are feeling.

Being Brave: Session hosted by Freda Newton MBE – Owner & MD Loch Ness by Jacobite, Giovanna Eusebi – MD Eusebi, Glasgow, Ross Mackay – Co-Founder, Daring Foods

In the months and years ahead to ensure future growth and success for Scottish tourism it will require all of us to be “Brave Business Leaders”. When was the last time you did something that scared you (and felt all the better for it?). The magic in life and enabling growth in business more often happens when you step outside of your comfort zone – do things differently, take measured risks, follow your dreams and knock down barriers that stand in the way of fulfilling yours or your business’ potential and ambition. In this final session of the day delegates will hear three very different stories from entrepreneurs who have done just that, sometimes against all the odds, bucking trends, which we know will stay with you and continue to inspire you in the challenging and fast changing times ahead.
