Do you have an object that has a special meaning for you? An object that you use everyday, an object you can’t live without, an object handed down through the family, that has survived a journey, has been given to you by a loved one or kept to commemorate an important time?
The Story Box is an exciting new project set to record Newcastle residents’ personal stories inspired by those personal objects. The stories created will be brought together in an online archive and kept for future generations to listen to, capturing a slice of the city’s history.
The finished stories will be screened during 2017 at locations around Newcastle in a specially converted red telephone box including Newcastle City Library and Eldon Square. We are also arranging locations across the city in collaboration with Newcastle NE1 and other venues TBC.
Our 2 day workshops give participants the opportunity to share their stories and experiences with others and learn how to make their own personal digital story using photos and recordings, telling the story behind their special object.
Workshops are free thanks to funding from the Community Foundations's Newcastle Cultural Investment Fund but limited to 8 participants.
Participants must be able to attend both days of the workshop (12th and 15th May). Please just book a place on the 12th May date.
Refreshments will be provided.
