Barry Hyman: Retired Head of Media and Public Relations of M&S

The unlikely combination of a Polish immigrant Jew and a blunt Yorkshireman creates shops for the common people. The son of the founder turns them into a British Institution. Simon Marks, acknowledged as a Retail Revolutionary, puts M&S and St. Michael ahead of other chains and runs the business for half a century. (Oh he also helped create the state of Israel).
