About this event

  • 3 hours

For 2 magical years, from 1956 to 1958, skiffle became the music of young people throughout the country. From the star professionals like Lonnie Donegan and Chas McDevitt through to youth club and coffee bar bands ‘having a go’, the craze took hold.

Our performance showcases how this simple, acoustic music formed the bedrock of what was come - the pop explosion of the 60s! - launching the careers of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many other global superstars.

Hop Skiffle and Jump play the songs of skiffle, telling the stories behind the personalities, with dancing and photographs, getting the audience involved along the way. A truly unforgettabe show for any fan of blues, skiffle and music history.

Hosted here at Seventeen Nineteen, a breathtaking venue in the heart of Old Sunderland.
