Two hundred years of change on the west side of Leeds city centre

About this Event

A Heritage Open Days walking tour

Come and explore the area now called Wellington Place. This is the third reworking of land that was covered with fields right up until the 1820s. You'll learn about the causes and results of change in this part of Leeds - on the site itself and in the surrounding area.

Your guide, Rachael Unsworth, is an urban geographer who has been getting to know Leeds since the mid-1990s. She has researched and written on many topics as well as being involved in shaping places, including this part of the city. Her tours - both public and private - cover a wide range of themes . See website link below.

Meet beside the lifting tower (historic stone structure) in the centre of the site, on the side with the Leeds Civic Trust blue plaque.
