Description

This is your invitation to a business briefing and lunch hosted by Aston University.

This exclusive briefing for SMEs based in Birmingham and Solihull, the Black Country, Staffordshire and the Marches has only 12 places available. It will take place from 12-2 on Wednesday 23rd August at St Paul’s Club in St Paul’s Square, Birmingham. This free event includes a 3-course lunch.

The purpose of the Technology Network is to use technology to create new, lucrative business opportunities for local businesses. We want to connect you to the technology projects which are going on around the region, such as the Big Data Corridor. We will put you in front of new clients and give you a chance to be involved in major projects that will create new business opportunities for your company as well as showing you how you can add value to your IT, engineering and manufacturing clients.

This business briefing is aimed at a wide range of industries and will tell you how you can join this new membership group- The Technology Network. Membership is fully funded for SMEs based in Birmingham and Solihull, the Black Country, Staffordshire and the Marches.

This briefing is aimed at:

  • Professional service providers- such as accountants and solicitors

  • Business consultants and advisors

  • IT companies and consultancies

  • Social media companies

  • Software and app developers

  • Marketing companies- including web site designers, graphic designers, agencies, PR firms etc.

  • H&S and compliance advisors

  • Engineering and manufacturing firms

  • Technology firms

  • Any business wanting to engage with the technology community in the West Midlands

The first event proved popular with business being passed at it, so why not come along and find out more?

As a quick overview, Aston University has pioneered work in sensors including SMART structures (i.e. structures such as buildings, bridges, transportation, machinery etc. which have a "nervous system" for monitoring their internal stress and temperature) and gas and pollution sensors. Their work in optical telecommunications and bio-medical sensors is cutting edge and they have developed innovative lighting solutions for cars, indoor and outdoor displays and general lighting purposes.

They are also involved with the Big Data Corridor, a project run by Birmingham City Council, with the purpose to "create a new disruptive economy where SMEs use data to create new applications, services and experiences to serve personalised demand for businesses and communities within the corridor".

The team has a wide array of technology to offer and access to major projects and companies in the region. They will work with you to help you grow your business by giving you access to and showing you how you can help the various projects and technology companies who need your services or products.

The outcome is a win-win-win scenario where you win more business, Aston win by seeing their technology in commerical use and major projects and companies win by using the latest solutions to improve their efficiencies and put them ahead in the marketplace.

During this briefing, you will find out more about some of the technology projects Aston University is involved in and how your business can benefit by being involved.
