Event description

This is your invitation to join us at the next Technology Network event.

This exclusive event is for business-to-business SMEs based in Birmingham, Solihull, the Black Country, Staffordshire and the Marches only. We have 50 members so far (membership and all events are fully funded) and we are rapidly growing.

The purpose of the Technology Network is to use technology to create new, lucrative business opportunities for local businesses. We want to connect you to new and ongoing technology projects across the region, such as the Big Data Corridor- a £3m project aimed at helping SMEs make the most of big data.

This growing group has over 50 members ranging from accountants and solicitors through marketing and recruitment firms to technology and manufacturing companies. We are looking for manufacturing, engineering and technology firms and all those who currently supply them or want to in the future- such as IT consultants, architects, business advisors, finance people, PR, H&S specialists, marketing companies etc.

Membership is fully funded and offers a range of benefits including:

  • Free monthly events at St Paul's Club with speakers from Aston University and inspiring business speakers

  • Access to funding and information on major projects such as the Big Data Corridor- a £2.9m project to help SMEs in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull. Discover how you and your clients can benefit.

  • Profile rising- you will be given your own page on the Technology Network web site and will have the opportunity to present to the membership.

  • Access to grants for developing new products and services for use in your own business or to sell on the market.

During this event, there will be talks from the:

  • Big Data Corridor,

  • Aston University and

  • Anastasia Alexander from Your Investment Company

The event is aimed at helping you to meet new clients while giving you the opportunity to be involved in major projects that will create new business opportunities for your company as well as detailing how to add value to your technology, IT, engineering and manufacturing clients.

As a quick overview, Aston University are involved with the Big Data Corridor, a project run by Birmingham City Council, with the purpose to "create a new disruptive economy where SMEs use data to create new applications, services and experiences to serve personalised demand for businesses and communities within the corridor".

They have also pioneered work in sensors including SMART structures (i.e. structures such as buildings, bridges, transportation, machinery etc. which have a "nervous system" for monitoring their internal stress and temperature) and gas and pollution sensors to create the smart city of the future.

The team has a wide array of technology to offer and access to major projects and companies in the region. They will work with you to help you grow your business by giving you access to and showing you how you can help the various projects and technology companies who need your services or products.

The outcome is a win-win-win scenario where you win more business, Aston win by seeing their technology in commerical use and major projects and companies win by using the latest solutions to improve their efficiencies and put them ahead in the marketplace.
