The Teenage Brain
Event Information
About this Event
Teenagers aren’t crazy; they’re just under construction, a work in progress.
The teenage brain is an amazing thing. Teenagers go through massive changes in adolescence and not all of those changes can be seen on the surface. In many ways the teenage brain is like an iceberg - there's a lot more happening beneath the surface. These changes are the linchpin for all the other changes that shape the teenage experience, including emotional and relational change, independence and faith development.
Join Brian Smith, the London District Youth and Children's Coordinator, for a journey into the minds of teenagers. We will explore how the brain works, new discoveries about the teenage brain, and consider the implications and impact all this has on our work with young people. We will also questions: 'How can we best 'steward' the opportunity we have to shape the brains of the teenagers in our care? How can we better support teenagers as their brains go through all these changes? How can we shape how their brains will be 'hard-wired' in adult life and help them build resilience?
This training would be useful for all those who work with teenagers including (but not limited to): lay workers, youth and children's workers and Sunday and junior church leaders.
