The Best Medicine was founded by Katie Rose White in 2014 and grew from her interest in playfulness. After graduating in Contemporary Applied Arts Practice, Katie trained as a Laughter Facilitator and began running regular workshops in her local community. Fascinated by the almost instant effects laughter and play have on boosting mood. She started to practice the techniques to help manage her own anxiety and panic. This led to a detailed study into the impact laughter can have on the brain and body and inspired her to develop a unique laughing practice.

Katie now shares her practice with carers, teachers and healthcare professionals, offering guidance and advice of how to use the techniques with the people they support. She has worked with many organisations across the UK including Teach First and the NHS and has experience working with vulnerable adults living with addiction and children with learning difficulties.
