About this event

  • 1 day 6 hours

Join us for free public open days in East Grinstead. We are opening Sackville House in association with Heritage Open Days for the first time in two years. Come along and learn more about this fascinating building and its most recent restoration made possible by a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund.

Free Admission and leaflets on the building's history and children's activity sheets will be available.

Built about 1520, this is a substantial timber-framed house with rooms of wood and lime plaster and the patina of centuries past. When you enter the yard you escape the bustle of modern day East Grinstead and find yourself in a large, peaceful garden. It was rescued in 1919 and was bequeathed to us in 1995, so that everyone could enjoy it.

Accessibility

Please note there is no parking at this building - please park on the street or in the local car parks. It is possible to drop those with limited mobility outside the building and then return your cars to one of the car parks.

Donating to Landmark

As a charity, the Landmark Trust relies on donations to support our work. We couldn’t have rescued over 200 Landmarks without the support of people like you. Your support saves historic buildings in danger of being lost forever and makes them available for all to experience and enjoy. Your donation could help train the craftspeople needed to restore buildings like this, or it could offer opportunities to young people to experience history first-hand, through our open days and free stays for study groups.

Organised by

The Landmark Trust is a charity that raises funds to restore historic buildings at risk.  Our buildings are available as holiday lets and open to the public at certain times of the year. Please see our website for more details:
