About Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is the second most common gynaecological cancer in the UK. Every year, over 7000 women in the UK will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer and almost 5000 will die of it. This makes ovarian cancer a deadly disease and one of the key reasons for this is because most cases are diagnosed in the late stages.

When diagnosed at the early stages, there is a 90% 5 year survival rate. However, late diagnosis means that only about 20 % of women survive for 5 years. This is why it is so important that we raise awareness of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. There is no screening for ovarian cancer.
