Description

We know that the great sport of Olympic Weightlifting has many benefits to young people but also that there are many myths, misconceptions and old wife’s tales about resistance training and the youth athlete. We also know that if you want to build a successful and competitive lifter its best to start the training process at an early age. Our competitive nations do this and have well developed youth training systems and specific processes, benchmarks and progress goals.

This workshop will help you as a coach develop your knowledge and understanding of training the youth athlete with resistance exercises for Olympic Weightlifting success. The workshop will answer essential questions such as:

  • How do you make sure you train a young athlete safely and successfully?
  • What are the theoretical and practical considerations?
  • How do we have as coaches ensure that the training load is safe, appropriate and effective?
  • What about long term planning and physical maturation?

This workshop is for weightlifting coaches, S&C coaches and sport coaches to learn about the process of training youth Olympic Weightlifters for a competition and success.
