Event description

Description

Oxford tour stop-off for Manchester's The Travelling Band, in collaboration with Midnight Mango, an esteemed agent for folk music. Support from A. Dyjecinksi, Arch Garrison and The Great Western Tears.

THE TRAVELLING BAND
Since their humble beginnings as a self proclaimed ‘folk noir’ outfit winning the Emerging Talent Competition in 2008, The Travelling Band have developed into one of the most exciting Americana artists in the UK. Their critically acclaimed 3rd album ‘The Big Defreeze’ (2014) received great reviews from Q, Uncut, Drowned in Sound, Louder Than War and R2 Magazine, as well as national airplay from Dermot O’Leary and Bob Harris, pushing the Manchester based 5-piece to new heights. With sold out dates in Manchester and London on their Autumn 2014 tour, and having previously performed at renowned national festivals such as Glastonbury (Other Stage/Park/Acoustic), Cropredy, Green Man, Festival No.6 and Beautiful Days (to name but a few), the band are no strangers to wowing fans both old and new at their live shows.
The future of the The Travelling Band was cast into doubt in December 2014 when their van, containing £30,000 of equipment, was stolen in Manchester. The story was shared widely throughout the band’s fanbase and the music community. Following a public appeal the story made national news with NME, BBC, ITV and Channel 4. This exposure and support lead to the recovering of van with all their equipment mostly intact!
With their 4th studio album planned for release mid next year, a great batch of exciting new material ensures us that 2016 is set to be the biggest year yet for this amazing band.
