Hear soprano Jay Britton aka The Tudor Songbook and lutenist James Bramley perform the music of the Elizabethan and Tudor royal courts. From Henry VIII's composition and Anne Boleyn's favourite songs to Elizabethan ballads and music for Mary Queen of Scots, the majestic setting of the hall will be resonating with music that would have been played when Bess of Hardwick was alive. lighthearted and engaging contextual explanations will really bring the music to life for modern ears, even if you're not familiar with early music.

Yes! It’s a concert but the content is suitable for children who would like to come and experience the sound of Elizabethan England. Our younger audience members only need to remain seated and quiet for an hour and there is space just outside the performance room if they need a little break.

No, not at all! Whilst the music and instruments are authentic to the period, entertaining explanations will be given to suit all audience from absolute beginners to history and music buffs.
