Event description

Description

Henry James' classic Ghost Story is told in the atmospheric setting of Stansted House this Halloween.

A young governess agrees to look after two orphaned children in a seemingly idyllic, but remote, country house. But shortly after her arrival, she realises that the house is haunted by a troubled past. The Governess will risk everything to keep the children safe, even if it means giving herself up to the ghosts.

As you arrive in the impressive entrance Hall of this country house, characters from the play will then beckon you downstairs where the story unfolds and the tension increases.

The first scene takes place in the entrance Hall of the House, then as you are introduced to all the characters the staff will ask you to take seats in the Drawing Room for about 20 mins. You will be escorted back to the Great Hall for a quick refreshment and toilet break after which the staff will move you down to the Servants Hall for Act Two which will last half an hour.

The performance will run twice a night at 7pm and 9pm.
Parking is available next to the House in the Business Offices Car Park.

Please note that this is NOT to be considered a chilrden's event. We would recommend ages 12 and above due to the tense nature of the piece and some subject matters addressed in the dialogue.
