Join us on Human Rights Day, 10th December 2013, for a collaborative event between human rights research centres, academic departments and civil society organisations, on the need to speak up for the Human Rights Act at a time when political and media commentary from across the spectrum is dominated by negative rhetoric.
Internationally respected speakers will add an academic voice to the British Institute of Human Rights current #Act initiative, by highlighting the importance of the Human Rights Act for all people in the UK, discussing the practical benefits of the Act and on the potential consequences of repeal of the Act and withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights. This event will also explore the importance of the Act in ensuring the UK has a legitimate and authoritative voice on international human rights issues and advocating for universal human rights.
