Event description

Description

The Un-Cheese Photography Workshop is all about simple but powerful techniques that you can use every day to capture real, authentic, and beautiful photos of your children growing up, from the first fleeting smiles and chubby legs of your new baby to the crazy antics of your 7-year-old to your moody teenager being their crazy annoying but awesome selves!

From learning about how light affects your photos and how to use it to your advantage, to learning composition techniques, to finally understanding what all those buttons on your camera mean – you’ll learn it all in just one morning!

Here's what you'll learn:

  • how light affects your photos, and how to work with natural light for best results
  • understanding exposure and why you can’t rely on the Auto mode to get it right
  • composition techniques that will instantly elevate your photos to the next level
  • how to give photos that lovely blurry background you see in professional photos
  • how to capture genuine smiles without having to resort to bribes or asking your kids to say “cheeeeeeeese”
  • how to capture your kids growing up in an authentic way
  • ….and lots more!

Your workshop seat also includes 2 weeks of 1 on 1 email support with Antonina, for all those questions that inevitably come up, and access to a private Facebook group where you can continue to ask questions and learning.

Here's what's included:

  • an intensive 3.5 hour beginners workshop
  • yummy buffet lunch and teas and coffees
  • group size limited to 8, so you can get individual attention with setting up your camera
  • a workshop workbook to take home
  • 2 weeks of email support following the workshop
  • access to a private Facebook group with like-minded photography enthusiasts to continue your learning

FAQs

Is this workshop only for parents?

If you’re interested in photographing people in a natural, unobtrusive way, then this course is for you too, you don’t need to be a parent to benefit from it! I will be mainly focusing on photographing children and their everyday antics, but the basics of using light and composition are the same, whoever your subject is – your elderly parents, your spouse, your nieces and nephews, or your pets!

Do I need a DSLR camera to attend?

You will get the most out of this workshop if you have a digital SLR or a bridge camera, but you can benefit even if you have a compact or a camera phone! Half of the workshop is dedicated to learning about light, composition, backgrounds, and capturing authentic moments and emotions, so you’ll still take away loads!

Can I really learn to take better photos in just 3.5 hours?

Absolutely! I will be sharing simple concepts that you can start applying right away, as well as showing you which settings to use on your camera for best results. But of course just like with any workshops or courses, you get what you put in it, so you must be prepared to apply your new knowledge and practice, practice, practice! And that’s what the 2 weeks of email support and the lifetime Facebook group membership is for – to practice, get feedback, and continue improving your photography!

What if I don't even know how to turn my camera on?

Not to worry! It’s a beginners workshop, so we’ll go through all the basics, and I’ll teach you what all those buttons mean – and, most importantly, which ones you need to know how to use, and which you don’t!

I'm not very technically minded, is this workshop for me?

I’ll tell you a secret: I’m not very technically minded myself. In fact, it took me ages to get my head around the exposure triangle, apertures, and shutter speeds, and that’s why I’m probably the best person to explain it in the most simple terms.

How is this workshop different from your free email course?

My free email course, Un-Cheese Your Family Photos, is designed to cover the very basics and doesn’t go into any technical detail such as exposure, best camera settings, etc. If you are looking to really understand light, exposure and your camera controls, you need to book onto this in-person workshop!

Can I bring my child to the workshop?

I’m afraid not. The workshop is very intensive with a lot of information and requires your full attention. It will be unfair on the other attendees if we have to interrupt the workshop if the baby decides to make a fuss, or your child needs attending to.

What if I can't attend last minute?

I’m afraid all bookings are non-refundable, but you can transfer your booking to the future workshop date. If you can’t attend, you may send a friend in your place. If you can’t attend and let me know at least 2 weeks in advance, I will try to rebook your place, and if it fills I will refund you in full.
