ἓν οἶδα ὅτι οὐδὲν οἶδα
"I know one thing, which is that I know nothing"
The Socratic paradox invites us to question what is known and what is not, and how one can be differentiated from the other. From those times in the therapeutic process when we await the emergence of what remains unconscious, to contemporary and historical times of personal or social unpredictability, the unknown represents an ongoing source of uncertainty in the background of our lives. It presents us with ambiguity as well as conjecture, restriction as well as possibility. At its borders we engage with the liminal – the space between that which is manifest and that which is latent.
We will be exploring these themes from a wide range of perspectives: from classic psychoanalytic approaches to more recent developments in psychodynamic, Jungian, psychotherapeutic and psychosocial theory. As well as panel presentations by our speakers, there will be opportunities throughout the conference to join smaller discussion groups.
This Conference is open to all and attendance is free, but you will need to register your place. A Zoom link will be sent you on registration.
