Event description

Description

“During the Second World War some 3.7 million German soldiers were captured by British forces, of whom only a fraction were taken to the UK. Here, their number peaked at 400,000 in September 1946. The lecture will focus on the prisoners’ daily life and work in the “golden cage” as Britain has often been called as well as on the British policy that allowed some 15,000 German prisoners of war to stay in the country for good.”
