Joins us for an evening at Catawiki, where you’ll learn about the challenges of bringing 50,000 unique new objects every week to a crowd of over 15 million users across Europe and the world. Hear from the Catawiki team the inside story on how they started working on a brand and product revamp in the last year. They’ll give you a sneak peek of what they’ve been working on – which has yet to come out – and, more importantly, will share the key challenges and their learnings along the way.

Sander van der Putten – Head of User Experience

Sander joined Catawiki in April 2019, with the ambition to make the Catawiki experience as memorable as the objects you’ll find there. He currently heads up the User Experience & Design team, which includes UX design, research, copy and visual design.

Having started over a decade ago on the agency side, Sander has worked on on- and off-line concepts for brands such as Canon Europe, Pampers EMEA and Emirates worldwide. He then switched to another household name, Albert Heijn, which has over 900 grocery stores and is a top 3 player in online revenue in The Netherlands.

Since joining Catawiki, he has been busy on redesigning the entire Catawiki experience and defining the new brand identity, as well as incorporating more design thinking and user research into the Catawiki way of working.

Josien Pieters – Senior User Experience Designer

Josien joined Catawiki all the way back in 2014. Throughout the years, at various times, she has been involved in all aspects of the user experience, whether it’s buyers or sellers, and whether it’s discovery or fulfilment.

With a Master’s Degree in strategic product design, Josien has worked as a strategic designer and a service designer before joining Catawiki. In the last couple of months she has been involved in the brand revamp and set out to create a new design system from scratch.

Emilie Renoux – Senior Brand Manager

Emilie joined Catawiki 10 months ago as Senior Brand Manager, responsible for Catawiki’s brand strategy & positioning as well as driving growth through brand channels.

Before joining Catawiki, Emilie worked for 10 years on building iconic brands that delight consumers within the Luxury & FMCG sector, including Mugler’s perfumes, Dove and Dettol.

At Catawiki, she leads a team of marketing specialists in social media, public relations, TV, outdoor, events & fairs as well as an editorial team in charge of Catawiki’s blog. Over the last few months, Emilie has been working on developing & deploying a new brand identity, in collaboration with the UX & Design team, aiming to build a strong and consistent brand that users love and engage with.

Virginia Laghi – Team Lead UX Content and Localisation

Virginia joined Catawiki in 2016 as the first content editor (for the Italian language). She has experience working as web editor, translation coordinator and PR specialist for communication agencies in Italy as well as startups in the Netherlands.

Now she leads the UX Content and Localisation team, composed of content managers, editors, writers and translators who deliver UX content with a clear purpose and localised into 17 languages.

In recent months she’s been working on the creation of Catawiki new tone of voice, in a joined effort with marketing and other departments. Next, her goal is to reshape all content in light of the new brand voice.
