Our Saturday rides are every First and third saturday of the month. They will be around 30 miles or 50 kilometers, ridden at an average speed Average speed 15-16mph, this means we will travelling at 18-21mph on the flats. 2 ride guides marshalling the front and back of the group.
During the ride there will be a number of regrouping points for everyone to comeback together.
Please be at The Velohouse and ready to start for 8:00, the ride should take between 2 hours finishing off back at The Velohouse.
It will be an unsupported ride so please make sure you have enough food and spares to get you through the ride and should the dreaded P word occur whilst out.
If you are a novice or just getting back on your bike after time off we recommend you build up to this ride by joining either the TW Socal Ride Facebook page and Southborough wheelers monthly beginner ride.
No one likes to think about things going wrong but accidents can happen and we think it’s important that riders understand their own responsibilities. All our events have public liability insurance in place that covers The Velo House and the actions of it’s staff, it doesn’t cover you for your own actions. In simple terms that means if you cause an accident that is found to be your fault you are personally responsible for any injury to yourself or others and for any damage to yours of other peoples property. Sorry if that all sounds a bit heavy, we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable ride so please ride sensibly, control your speed and don’t take unnecessary risks.
If you ride regularly and are concerned about your own insurance cover you’ll find British Cycling or CTC membership can offer you some protection.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order and it is compulsory to wear a helmet on our rides.
WEATHER & ROAD CONDITIONS
We’ll be keeping an eye on the weather over the coming days Please check the forecast before the ride and dress appropriately for the conditions.
Most of the roads seem in good condition but like all areas of the UK there’s always the risk of potholes, poor surfacing or gravel especially on some of the smaller lanes. Please always keep alert and signal any hazards to riders behind you..
