TRICK or TREAT?

In Man-Chiu Lin’s novel The Ventriloquist’s Daughter, the little girl Liur’s dad returns from his long trip and brings her a special doll.

Is the mysterious South American ventriloquist’s doll going to be a pleasant treat to his daughter as promised, or indeed the most menacing trick to the little girl, bringing her the worst nightmare she would have never dreamed of?

To find out if it’s a TRICK or TREAT, join our November book talk jointly held with Balestier Press! Hear a mind-opening discussion on Taiwan’s young adult literature and how its translation impacts the young readers here in Britain.

We have the honor to invite the author, translator and publisher of The Ventriloquist’s Daughter to join us at the same time and talk from their different perspectives.
