About this event

This is a recording of a talk called The Victorian Short Story- Its Origins and Development by June Lawrence which was recorded on 11th January 2022.

In anticipation of the setting up of a monthly Victorian Short Story Reading Group, this talk examines the origins and development of the short story during the 19th century, following its progression from Romanticism to Realism and the gradual move towards Modernism. It will also follow the trends and patterns that moulded the short story from the rather amorphous and loose form prevalent at the start of the Victorian age, to the literary and well defined style that came into being by the close of the century.

After booking a ticket, you will be given access to the recording of the event. Please ignore the event date in the listings.
