Almas Art Foundation in partnership with Kayd are inviting you to the screening of The Village Next to Paradise is a 2024 drama film written and directed by Mo Harawe in his feature-length debut. This film highlights Mamargrade (Farah) struggles to raise his son Cigaal (Saleban) in their rural Somali village amidst conflict, natural disasters, and the constant presence of drones from the United States. Their family dynamic is further altered by the arrival of Marmargrade's sister Araweelo (Ibrahim), who is seeking a fresh start after her divorce. The Village Next to Paradise is the first Somali film to play in Un Certain Regard at Cannes.
The screening will be followed by a Q &A with Ahmed Farah, the director of the African Film of the Year and the creator of Riyo Films, an international film production firm situated in East Africa. Farah is also the director of Ayaanle and Arday. He is also the producer of The Village Next to Paradise
