The Virtual Paul's Cross Project - Free talk
Event Information
Description
Free talk - Dr John Wall, Professor of English at NC State and leader of The Virtual Paul's Cross Project, discusses and presents his work.
Researchers have created an auditory and visual simulation of what it might have been like to stand in front of Paul's Cross pulpit in the courtyard of St Paul's Cathedral almost 400 years ago.
Literature and architecture researchers at North Carolina State university have created a script and built an acoustic model to simulate the way John Donne's 1622 Gunpowder Day sermon would have sounded from different vantage points within St Paul's courtyard.
Professor John Wall will discuss the reserach and delivery of the project and demonstrate the results - a remarkable reconstruction of pre-Fire St Paul's which brings the lively social and spiritual hub in the north churchyard back to life.
The talk will be in the Cathedral Wren Suite, located in the crypt.
Pre-booked timed tickets only.
Please bring your ticket with you on the day.
Access is via the crypt entrance on the north side of the building.
The talk will last approximately 45.
