Come and climb a great big tree!!
As part of the National Trust's 50 things to do before you're 11 and 3/4's we bring you The Great Big Tree Climbing Company.
Two highly skilled and friendly instructors can help all ages reach new heights in a fantastic tree in picturesque parkland. They will teach you how to enter a tree's canopy using ropes, knots and karabiners, whilst being securely attached in a harness at all times. Once at the top of the tree you will gain an experience which can't be found on the ground, with plenty of time to look around or complete a branch walk before being lowered to the ground. Each session runs for between 8 and 10 people (dependent on the tree that we are using), creating a unique and intimate experience.

What is the minimum age to enter the event?
We recommend participants be six years old or above. The technique taught is slightly complex and younger children are unlikely to grasp the concept.

Yes it most definitely is. Furthermore we thoroughly recommend adults participate alongside the children they are accompanying.

No, you only need to buy one if you are planning to participate in the climbing. If you plan just to watch you do not need a ticket.
How physically demanding are the activities?
Our climbing technique does require you to have a reasonable level of strength in your lower and upper body. The majority of work is done with you legs but participants are required to active and healthy. We are able to help children who struggle but adults who are unable to carry out the technique will not be pulled up by our instructors.
I or my child may require additional assistance or have special requirements, are these activities suitable?

How can we book this for a birthday party?
If you wish for your birthday party to be completely private then you should book all seven spaces in the hour slot, regardless of if you have less than seven people participating in that hour.If you wish for the party to last two or three hours book all of the slots in those consecutive hours. Groups should contain a maximum of multiples of eight - ten (see specific venue), depending on the number of consecutive hours they have booked.

Of course you can! We encourage you to share your best ones on our Facebook page too. If you sign our photo permission slip we may take photos of you or your children and put them on Facebook.
