Description

Step backstage at Theatre Royal Plymouth’s Production and Learning Centre TR2 to uncover the secrets of how the Wave started life in Plymouth. Here you can see where sets, costumes and props are fabricated, where companies come to rehearse and where the sculptural elements of the Tower of London Poppies were made. See the original design drawings, learn the challenges faced throughout the construction and understand how the city played a vital part in one of the country’s most poignant public art pieces.

The content of the tour will include:

1. An introductory talk outlining the Poppies Project at TR2 Conducted by Oli Fisher – Project Design Draughtsperson. This will take place in the TR2 Green Room and utilise a display with drawings, images and a model showing the plastic poppies produced at TR2.

2. A tour of the TR2 facilities Conducted by TRP Tour-guides.This will take guest around the workshops, rehearsal rooms and offices located within TR2 and give them a flavour of what it takes to create a show before it arrives at the theatre.

3. An informal chat in the Design Office Conducted by Oli Fisher – Project Design Draughtsperson During the tour, there will be chance to see a working Design Office, looking at other projects and the process that takes place from page to stage. This will include a Q&A and fit up videos of previous shows loading into venues.
