Event description

Description

People use the web so much these days they treat it like running water and they often forget about all the complexity that lies beneath. When you visit a web page, for example http://bbc.com and find yourself clicking on a link, what actually happens behind the scenes? The talk will peel back all the layers of technology (and science) that come into play when someone clicks on a link.

Join us as Dan Appelquist of Samsung and Sir Tim Berners-Lee's technical architecture group (https://w3.org/tag) demystifies and explains how the web and the Internet really work. Sheding light on the range of science and technology involved, and the different disciplines from computer science, to radio engineering, the materials science, that come into play.
