Description

This talk will further elaborate on the fundamental teachings of the Kalachakra Tantra, a complex and remarkable esoteric teaching of the Buddha.

The Kalachakra Tantra (kala: time, chakra: wheel) is a Buddhist meditation practice belonging to the class of Highest Yoga Tantras that are among the most profound teachings of the Bodhisattva path. Accoding to tradition, the Buddha appeared as the deity Kalachakra in Amaravati, South India and taught the tantra at the request of King Suchandra of the legendary realm of Shambhala.

The Kalachakra was one of the last, most comprehensive, most complex and unique tantric systems to be brought to Tibet from India. It is very important to understand the basic aspects of the Buddhist path that provide the context for tantric practice and the use of mandalas as objects of meditation.
