Event description

Description

We gave wisdom to Loqman, and when wisdom is given, great good is established.’

‘Indeed God is endlessly Munificent.’

‘If all the works of men were as small as a mustard seed and that mustard seed was in the middle of the desert or in the heavens or on the earth somewhere, God, who encompasses all from the heights of heaven to the depths of earth, takes account of it.’

This is the latest of a series of meetings comprising study of the work of the great spiritual teacher Muhyiddin Ibn Arabi. The aim of the study is to nurture a sentiment for self-knowledge, rather than for any academic or cultural benefit.

No prior knowledge of Arabi’s writings is needed. The seminar is designed both for those new to his work and for long-term students.

In this seminar we shall read from the Chapter on “The Wisdom of Beneficence in the Word of Loqman” from Arabi’s seminal work, Fusus al-Hikam. We shall be using the incomparable English translation of Bulent Rauf, with commentary.

Please note the early start: we are starting at 11 am so that we can read the whole chapter without time pressure. A light lunch will be provided if required.
