The Wisdom of the Heart
The Heart Sutra is one of the most beloved scriptures of Mahayana Buddhism, and the shortest of the Perfection of Wisdom literature, literally the 'essence' or 'heart' of wisdom distilled into one sutra. The sutra tries to express the nature of reality, seemingly both profound and paradoxical; and is widely recited in the Buddhist world, including being a core part of Triratna's Sevenfold Puja.
In this new six-week course, Yashobodhi and Viryanaga will explore the depths of the sutra's teachings through talks, meditations, mantras, readings, and group discussion, and will explain the rich Mahayana context the sutra was born out of. This course is designed for those encountering the sutra for the first time as well those who have recited it many times before and want to explore the significance of this teaching in a new way.
To attend this course some background knowledge of Buddhism and meditation would be very helpful
