Description

The Women who said 'Yes' is a small exhibition about the 17 amazing women who stood for Parliament in the 1918 General Election. Come and hear about the 17, who range from an anti-suffrage woman, Violet Markham - to a long standing suffrage and peace campaigner Emmeline Pethick Lawrence. Come and find out about Norah Dacre Dacre Fox, a former suffragette and a fascist sympathiser and the women who hid from the 1911 census. Hear about pioneering educationalists and trade union activists. The winner was an irish revolutionary who ran her campaign from her prison cell in Holloway! Come and hear their stories and met the researchers who put together this small but fascinating exhibition. And visit the lovely Talleyrand Bar too!
