The Word Factory #47 – Sex, Death and Anaïs Nin
Sat 10 September 2016, 18:00 – 20:00 BST
WORD FACTORY PRESENTS:
Sublime Women, a celebration of classic and contemporary short story writers.
This is the first salon of our Sublime women autumn series, linking classes, salons, our short story club and offering opportunities to hear your work throughout the year.
Join us for a thrilling evening as Peter Hobbs and Petina Gappah launch Sex and Death, a new anthology of stories from Faber. Co-edited by Hobbs and Sarah Hall, with contributions from Ali Smith, Yiyun Li and Clare Wigfall amongst others, the stories within the collection explore how we come in, and how we go out - the governing drives and greatest themes of literature.
Peter Hobbs is the award-winning author of two novels as well as a collection of short stories, I Could Ride All Day In My Cool Blue Train. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, and a writers-in-residence for the schools literary charity, First Story.
Petina Gappah's debut collection, An Elegy For Easterly, won the Guardian First Book Prize.
They will be joined in all things erotic by acclaimed novelist, short story writer and Emeritus Professor at the University of East Anglia, Michèle Roberts.
Salon limited to 80 places.
