Mon 27 February 2017, 14:00 – 16:00 GMT
Come along and discover the fascinating life of one of Plymouth’s greatest sons. John Kitto was born at Seven Stars Lane in 1804. From an early age he developed a love for reading and this was to stand him in good stead for his later life. At the age of 12, when assisting his father in re-roofing a property in Batter Street he fell over thirty feet onto the ground below. Although he did survived the fall, he lost his sense of hearing – something he was never to regain. As an ‘invalid’ he was forced to live in the Workhouse where he gained the attention of many kind benefactors. In later life Kitto became an accomplished author who travelled far and wide. Join Graham Naylor to learn more about this great man and of his greatest achievements as one of the foreknown Biblical scholars of his time.
