The Night Lodgers: Uncovering the Forgotten Stories of Limavady Workhouse

They appear as fleeting names in a ledger, seeking shelter for a single night before disappearing back into the annals of history. But who were the "Night Lodgers" of the Limavady Workhouse? Where did they come from, and where were they going?

Join us for a fascinating evening with genealogist and historian Rosemary, as she uncovers the human stories behind the statistics. With over 30 years of research experience, an MSc in Genealogical Studies from the University of Strathclyde, and as the author of The Search for Molly, Rosemary possesses a unique skill for bringing the past to life.

In this talk, titled “Night Lodgers, Who were they?”, Rosemary will share compelling excerpts from her groundbreaking study of admissions to the Limavady Workhouse between 1870 and 1920. This is a powerful opportunity to understand the lives, struggles, and journeys of the transient poor who walked our local roads over a century ago.

Welcome to The Workhouse Through the Times event! Join us for a fascinating talk with Rosemary Henderson at LCDI on October 1, 2025 at 7:30 PM (Europe/London Timezone).
