The World Reimagined is an exciting new national programme that brings people together through art, history, dialogue and learning to consider our shared history so we can make racial justice a reality, together. (full details about The World Reimagined below).

Our Learning Programme is a creative Journey of Discovery for school communities featuring Classroom Resources co-created with artists and educational experts including Baroness Floella Benjamin; poet & playwright Inua Ellams; Professor Kehinde Andrews; and cast members from the West End's Hamilton.

This series of weekly events will reveal how The World Reimagined resources can have a real impact in your schools. We will share practical tips and answer your questions. You will hear from brilliant speakers such as RECLAIM and Rekindle Schools founder, Ruth Ibegbuna RSA and Creative Learning Specialist from Wild in Art, Annie Laughrin. Events will run-up to the sign-up deadline on the 25th March.

Today’s event will focus on the Mother Africa resources which are available to download from our website. We want to provide our educators with a taste of what is to come.

We will be joined by content contributors and teachers, Charlene Shaw and Chantel Thompson as they discuss how they helped to shape the resources and how they think they should be used in the classroom.

We will break down how the module of Mother Africa can be shared within a primary school environment or KS3+ Art, History or English lesson.

The full resource package will be available to download in March 2022.

The World Reimagined will see trails of large globe sculptures in cities across the UK in the summer of 2022, created by artists to bring to life the reality and impact of the Transatlantic Slave Trade – responding to the themes ranging from Mother Africa and The Reality of Being Enslaved to Still We Rise and Expanding Soul. The Globes will be created by both established and undiscovered artists, alongside unique collaborations that bring together national and international icons and communities with artists. The trails will be the centre of a broader education and engagement programme - with hundreds of schools, community groups, sporting and cultural institutions taking part. Our Founding Artist is Yinka Shonibare CBE and confirmed Feature Artists include Kimathi Donkor; Nicola Green; Lakwena Maciver; Maxim; Zak Ové; Lina Viktor. Our Jury is led by our Artistic Director Lady Ashley Adjaye and includes Chris Ofili. Across 7 cities (including Bristol, Birmingham, London, Leeds, Swansea, with more to be publicly announced soon), The World Reimagined will actively engage 1m+ visitors; 250+ schools; and 25k+ students. Our reach and level of engagement are expanded and deepened by our Official Presenting Partners - Sky.
