The World Reimagined Presents: Triangle of Unity - Leeds.
Overview
Be part of a powerful evening of storytelling, art, and community honouring the history and future of Black British life in `Leeds.
Triangle of Unity is the Leeds launch of “COMMUNITY: Becoming Black & British,” a groundbreaking national documentary directed by Gomolemo Nyakale.
This project has been made in collaboration with young Black people in Leeds, providing them with hands-on experience in documentary filmmaking, research, and production. They’ve worked closely with industry professionals to preserve and platform local stories that have shaped generations.
We’ve interviewed key community figures including Arthur France MBE, founder of the Leeds West Indian Carnival; Olympian Kathy Williams; and Khadijah Ibrahiim, poet and artistic director of Leeds Young Authors.
Together, we reflect on the community organisations, elders, and youth who built cultural infrastructure across Leeds, from the 1970s to today, and whose work must be remembered, celebrated, and continued.
