Description

An evening reception hosted by Community Energy South in the heart Lewes featuring Jonathon Porritt, the world-renowned environmentalist, in conversation with Howard Johns, Chair of Ovesco and Philip Sellwood, Chief Executive of the Energy Saving Trust.

Jonathon Porritt is Founder Director and Trustee of Forum for the Future and an eminent writer, broadcaster and commentator on sustainable development. He will talk about his book The World We Made, which is told from the perspective of someone living in 2050, and share his thoughts on how our communities may change in the future. The evening's discussion will also look at the energy and environmental challenges we face and discuss how together we can all play a part in the transition to a low carbon, sustainable future.

The reception is taking place as part of the Lewes 2030 festival and will also launch Energy Revolution - a groundbreaking new book by Howard Johns.

Energy Revolution makes a powerful case for why we must switch to renewables and covers everything you need to know about starting a community energy project in your area. The book draws on success stories from energy pioneers in the UK, America, Europe, Asia and Africa and shows we can all play a role in the renewable energy revolution, helping to change the world one community at a time.

Rob Hopkins, Founder of the Transition Movement, has said that the book "paints a spellbinding picture of the revolution happening around us, and the part you could play in it." For more information about the book, visit www.energyrevolution.solutions

About Lewes 2030 Festival

Lewes 2030, as part of Community Energy Fortnight, is a two day festival exploring the future of community-owned renewable energy in the south east. The festival will launch a project to encourage a local planning and action towards 2030. The World We Made drinks reception is taking place in the evening of the first day of the festival.

From 10am on the first day, Friday 25th September, Community Energy South is delighted to host its third annual conference, Powering Our Communities, at the Linkater Pavilion on Railway Lane, Lewes.
Featuring a programme of some of the country's leading community energy experts and policy makers, the conference will include sessions focussed on key areas of Community Energy South's core strategy, including supply, energy efficiency, energy generation and training. For more information and to book your place visit http://lewes2030conference.eventbrite.co.uk
The second day, Saturday 26th September, is an open event looking at how our communities are changing and what it might be like to live in Lewes in 2030. The event will feature lots of fun and interactive activities for all ages, including face-ageing, zero carbon energy plans and map of renewable energy in the Lewes District.
There is no need to reserve a space for day two of the festival, just turn up at the Linklater Pavilion on Railway Lane in Lewes at any time between 11am and 5pm, and bring your friends and family!
