Event description

Description

"New, talented, soulful Americana" - Clive Richardson, Solar Radio.

About the event:

The official launch party for Joey Clarkson's eagerly awaited new album "The Year That Never Happened" will be held at the Rosslyn Hill Unitarian Chapel in Hampstead, London on November 22. The RHUC is an absolutely gorgeous neo-gothic styled chapel, with a stunning interior, vaulted ceilings and hauntingly beautiful acoustics - the perfect match the songs on Joey's upcoming album.

The night will begin at 8:00 pm with special guests warming up the stage, in an intimate setting with very minimal amplification, working with the rooms unique and captivating acoustics. Joey will then take to the stage as a full band, with guest players from the HM Forces Band of the Scots Guards and The Countess of Wessex String Orchestra, and a small choral ensemble to help bring the “The Year That Never Happened” to life in a truly impressive one of a kind live performance experience that will never quite be performed the same way again.

Early Bird Tickets are £12 - limited availability, first come first serve basis.

General Admission Tickets are £15.

Afterparty TBA.

About the album:

This album is a storm of emotions, centered around the year that was turned upside down when Joey’s visa to join her husband Peter in the UK was decline by the British Government; A collection of songs that are written about, or should have been released in, The Year That Never Happened.

Recorded at the Big Smoke Studios in North Wembley, London, this is the first album that Joey has stepped into the role of producer for, working alongside co-producer and engineer Ryan John Griffiths to bring a small collection of new works to life. From the acoustic vulnerability of “These Days”, a song written the morning after her visa was declined, through to the cinematic and uplifting journey of “We Found Faith”, “The Year That Never Happened” is an album that offers a raw, honest and poignant look at the stages of acceptance that follow a life altering, unexpected change. In many ways, the production of this album was a therapeutic venture for Joey and Peter – the final step of letting go.
