Event description

Description

  • Are we seeing a shift in the sexual ethics of young people?
  • How does Gen Z’s perception of marriage, cohabitation and monogamy compare to that of their parents?
  • Would the youth work resources of the 1990s stand up to a group of teenagers today?
  • Are technological changes shaping the way teenagers relate to each other and themselves?

In this fast-changing world, parents, youth workers and others accompanying young people in adolescence can be left wondering how to relate, how to encourage safe practice alongside developing moral perspectives. Are we scared of asking these questions?

This lecture and associated conversation seek to consider how youth workers, parents, carers, clergy and others working with young people might be better equipped for understanding these new perspectives and what the gospel means for this context.

We’ll consider the emerging and changing landscape of young people’s understanding of sex and relationships, what they do and what they believe and how we, as a church, can respond.

Speakers include the Revd Dr Sean Doherty from St Mellitus College and Rachel Gardner from Youthscape.

There'll be a wine reception and small exhibition alongside this lecture.
