Event description

Description

Thelma Ruby Frye (OG 39) is an actress who has given her whole life to the theatre. Her acclaimed one-woman show is an autobiographical collection of songs, sketches and extracts from her unique and fascinating life and career in show business and will be performed in the theatre at the The Grammar School at Leeds on Tuesday 12 September.

A brilliantly inspirational performer, her show is delightfully engaging, genuinely touching and hugely entertaining. Thelma has appeared as Golde opposite Topol in Fiddler On The Roof; Mistress Quickly to the Falstaff of Orson Welles in Chimes At Midnight; and with Dame Judi Dench in Cabaret. Thelma describes her varied and exciting life in the theatre, including her experiences in ENSA. Thelma, who was born and brought up in Leeds, will be joined by pianist, Jason Carr, also from Leeds.

Now 92, Thelma is currently shooting three episodes of a new ITV sitcom, Bad Move, with Jack Dee, due to be on our screens in the autumn and Oldie of the Year 2017 award.

‘Her comic timing is second to none… I was bowled over by her’ – Daily Mail

Doors open at 19:00 for refreshments with the show starting at 19:30. Tickets are £10. Scroll down the page to purchase a ticket.
