Themed Registered Managers Network - Face to Face Learning Hub
Overview
We’re pleased to invite you to our first themed network meeting of the year, in response to requests from local managers.
Our network is all about supporting managers across Dorset, and regular attendees tell us it’s an invaluable way to stay informed, share experiences, and tackle challenges together. Based on your feedback, we’re bringing you an in-person meeting, with plenty of time for open & confidential discussions to enable the sharing challenges, ideas, and solutions with peers.
What’s on the Agenda ?
This time, we will be focusing on one main topic, with the morning dedicated entirely to Coroner’s Inquests. During the session, we will take a detailed look at the full inquest process—what it involves, why it happens, and the role that care providers may be required to play.
We will explore what you should expect at each stage, including how a coroner approaches establishing the facts, how evidence is gathered and reviewed, and what your responsibilities are if you are called to contribute. As part of this, we’ll discuss the types of evidence it is essential to have readily available—from care plans and daily records to incident reports, staff statements, training compliance, communication logs, and any other documentation that may help provide a clear picture of the circumstances surrounding a resident’s death.
Our aim is to demystify the entire process so that all involved feel more informed, confident, and prepared. Coroner’s Inquests can understandably cause anxiety, particularly for staff who have never been involved in one before. By breaking down the procedure, clarifying expectations, and offering practical guidance on how to respond professionally and effectively, we hope to reduce some of that worry and ensure that teams feel supported and equipped to participate constructively.
Our session will be led by Isabel from Lester Aldridge who will share her specialist knowledge with us on this subject. For more information please see Isabel De La Haye | Solicitor | Lester Aldridge
We look forward to seeing some familiar and new faces at the network meeting and taking time together to share common issues. As always if you have any questions in relation to this please do let us know via picare@bpc.ac.uk
