About this event

This exhibition traces the beginnings of my journey with iconography, from the first finished piece (‘Theotokos’) undertaken with the late Paul Martin to the monochrome studies, icons and final festal composition (‘Anastasis’) as part of a three-year Certificate in Iconography. This course finishes in December 2025 and is taught by Aidan Hart, through the King’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts.

It also marks the time in which I have formally discerned and trained to become a priest in the Scottish Episcopal Church – a journey which started when I arrived in Edinburgh in September 2015 and worshiped for a while at St John’s.

Icons have become a deeply fruitful medium through which I feel able to better love and understand God and my neighbour – they are theology and prayer in line and colour.

Stay awhile. I hope that the pieces convey at least some of that love and understanding to be shared with others.
