Dr Dawn Llewellyn: How Do Feminists Read The Bible?
About this event
Join us for our third season of Theology and Religious Studies Webinars from the University of Chester. Online event where Q&A will be delivered by Chat Function; no mics or cameras will be enabled.
Dawn is Associate Professor of Religion and Gender and teaches Religious Studies, Sociology of Religion, and Religion and Gender. She is a qualitative researcher, focusing on gender and contemporary Christianity.
Dawn explores how feminists have developed different strategies for reading and tackling the biblical texts in Christianity. She’ll introduce some of the key ways feminists have rejected, revised, and reimagined the Bible, and questioned its authority. She also charts how feminists have used other forms of literature to critique the Christian narratives and asks what this means for our understanding of ‘sacred texts’.
