Event description

Description

Cambridge School of Art is hosting our second PhD Research Exhibition and Symposium, THEOREM, coming up on 6 July. This year we will present doctoral student research from Kingston University London, Nottingham Trent, and Derby Universities, in addition to some of our own doctoral students at CSA. THEOREM is the first PhD research conference for the visual arts in the UK to combine an exhibition of research outcomes and a research symposium.

This year's Keynote speaker will be Dr Chris Taylor. In his keynote address entitled, The Artists' Book as Collaborative Art Practice, Chris will discuss his relationship with the book format through a series of parallel research projects exploring modes of production, dissemination and collaboration. Chris is Senior Lecturer in Fine Art in the School of Fine Art, History of Art & Cultural Studies at the University of Leeds. He is an artist, curator and publisher with specialist knowledge in the field of artists' books and print media. He is co-Editor of the Wild Pansy Press.

Doctoral presentations will deliver topics ranging from the development of smart textiles, to embodied learning in a digital world, to collaboration dynamics, to personal views of self within historical and political locations. These presentations represent research being done in Textile and Industrial Design, Fine Art, Book Arts, Curatorial and Museum Practice, and Performance Art.

Join us in Coslett 124 from 9:30am to 4:30pm for THEOREM, the symposium, followed by an opening reception in Ruskin Gallery from 5:00 to 8:00pm for THEOREM, the exhibition.
