Ed Weidman Recording Agreements Masterclass 2 – Ancillary Rights and New Media

The final event in this series of four master classes on entertainment law contracts, given by Robert Allan, Associate Fellow of the Centre for Law, Society and Popular Culture and Ed Weidman, lawyer at Simkins LLP and University of Westminster graduate. In these sessions Robert and Ed will explain the intricacies of specific music contracts, with insights based on their practical experience, and respond to audience questions.

Ed is a lawyer at Simkins LLP. He specialises in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and advising on the exploitation and protection of intellectual property rights.

Ed’s areas of expertise include entertainment (including music, publishing, television, film and theatre), advertising (including branding, market research, sponsorship and endorsement), digital media, IT and technology.

His music clients include managers, publishers, record companies, promoters, festivals, producers and artists.

Before qualifying as a lawyer, Ed worked in the music industry as an artist manager and label manager.
