About this event

Therapeutic Art Class – ChelmsfordJoin us at Fête Grays Yard for a unique small-group experience that blends creativity with wellbeing. These guided therapeutic art sessions are designed to help you slow down, release stress, and explore self-expression in a safe and supportive space. Using methods such as body mapping, guided drawing and painting, you’ll learn how art can soothe the nervous system, unlock emotion, and bring a deeper sense of clarity and calm.

✨ No artistic skill required — all materials are provided.✨ Just 12 spaces available to keep the group intimate and personal.

Discover the art of self-expression, connect with yourself in new ways, make the invisible visible and journey inwardly to connect, express and create.

Classes are led by a therapist, and involve bi lateral sensory motor art therapy using pastels and paints. Sessions are guided by the therapist and encourage greater self expression, listening to the body, felt sensation and mindfulness.

All artworks can be curated from Art to Artefact , creating a unique and interesting piece of personal art you can display or as a private keepsake. Pieces can be ordered in a range of sizes and materials.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an age restriction?

Yes, at the moment participants must be over 18. We are planning events with children and young people from December 2025.

Do I need to be artistic?

No artistic skill is required. Just come along ready to relax, connect inward and prepared to freely express.

Do I have to share details of any personal issues I may be experiencing?

No, we do not discuss individual personal challenges as part of this class. You can be free to connect and express in complete confidence. A therapist is available if the class raises any issues you might wish to talk about, or matters arising from the session.

Can I take my artwork home with me?

Yes. Or you can leave it with us to curate your pieces into a collage and purchase a range of prints and materials from postcards, hanging wall art to full size legacy walls.

Who leads the session?

The session is led by Victoria, an integrative therapist with training in CBT, hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and sensory motor therapeutic art. The session lead is not an Art Therapist but uses therapeutic art as an adjunct to her therapy work with clients.

Can I receive individual therapy at the session?

Personalised therapy cannot be provided directly in the session, however you can arrange for a free call to follow up on any issues you may be intrigued to discuss further, or to consider individual therapy.

Do I need to wear an apron or old clothes?

Please wear clothing you are prepared to get paint on, or wear an old shirt or apron. Whilst all of our paints are washable we cannot guarantee it will wash off. Please note that if you choose to use paints, you will get this on your hands, nails and jewellery unless you wear gloves.

How long does the class last?

The class is 90 minutes.

Do you run any other classes?

Yes. Classes are also run as courses over 4 weeks. Current courses starting in October and November include specific classes for stress, anxiety and depression and a course for recovery from abusive relationships. See booking page for more details. https://anilumatherapies.simplybook.it/v2/#book
