Join us to discover the stories behind some of the fancy footwear in the Cuming Museum collections
In the 19th century the streets around Borough were full of artisans and manufacturers of all kinds of goods, including shoemaking. Join us to find out more about this ancient industry and see some of the beautiful footwear from the Cuming Museum’s collections.
There are over 300 footwear related artefacts in the collections, from all around the world and from Ancient Egypt to modern times. We’ll be bringing a wide selection for you to look at up close. But sorry folks, you can’t try them on!
Following the talk there will be refreshments in the cafe.
The event will take place in the Local History Library at the back of the building. Please be at John Harvard Library for 7pm, as the event takes place after library opening hours latecomers may not be admitted.
