Overview
Signpost Stockport for Carers has been successful in securing funding from the Economic Inactivity Trailblazer Stockport VCFSE Work & Skills Fund 2025/26, a UK Government– funded initiative delivered in partnership with Sector 3, Stockport Council, Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).
This new funding will enable Signpost to deliver an innovative, Think Carer- Carer
Champion Workplace Training programme, a CPD-accredited course designed to help businesses across Stockport identify and support unpaid carers in their workforce. Running from November 2025 to March 2026, the project will see local employers take part, with each nominating a staff member to become a Carer Champion.
The Champions will gain practical knowledge, resources, and confidence to recognise carers, offer the right support, and embed carer-friendly policies in their workplaces. The project forms part of Stockport’s Live Well initiative, which aims to reduce inequalitiesin access to work, promote inclusive recruitment, and strengthen partnerships betweenthe voluntary, community, faith, and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector and local employers.
